Now that you have acquired a new outlook, buried the past and developed confidence in yourself, it's time to get back into the dating game! Finding your soul mate is a matter of focus and determination. Here are some tips on how to get started:

1. Take matters into your own hands and be proactive
Know what you want in a mate and what you don't want. Don't leave the important traits to chance. Most of us just rush into relationships without putting a lot of thought into it, and that is the first mistake we make.

2. Let others know you are actively seeking companionship and are dating
Tell your friends, co-workers, your hairdresser, the clerk at Lowe's, and even the neighbors if possible! The important thing is to get the word out. Don't make a big deal out of it -- just casually let everyone know that you are on the lookout for eligible partners.

3. Have a genuine interest in meeting new people
It's okay to be picky, but don't sabotage everyone's effort by declaring "I won't date anyone older/younger," "I only date tall men" or "he must be affluent." Don't get turned off by things like occupation, income, height, number of children, fitness level, hair color or shyness. Just keep your options open and be willing to get to know someone before making a judgment call.

4. Create the ripple effect
It's smart to talk with others that are in the same boat as you. Get their opinions, find out their solutions, laugh about your dates, etc. It pays to network. If you meet someone you know you don't have a connection with, introduce them to one of your networking buddies that have similar qualities.
